sweet without the saccharine

I never thought I'd see the day when I'd endorse a Christian recording artist, but I really like Chris Rice's new song "When Did You Fall (In Love with Me)." It's just nice, without being trite or facile. Well-composed and free of cynicism. Refreshing.
You’re all smiles and silly conversation
As if this sunny day came just for you
You twist your hair, you smile, and you turn your eyes away
C’mon, tell me what’s right with you
Now it dawns on me probably everybody’s talkin’
And there’s something here I’m supposed to realize
‘Cause your secret’s out, and the universe laughs at its joke on me
I just caught it in your eyes, it’s a beautiful surprise

There's a clip of it on his site.

You may already know that Trace Adkins has a new album out: "Dangerous Man."
That is one tough dude!!! He took a bullet in the heart in 1994.

Yeah, I was listening to Dangerous Man yesterday. It's so-so. The parts where he's trying to be Ronnie Milsap are better than the parts where he's trying to be Toby Keith.

I didn't see any point in endorsing it.

Trace's big hit, "Honkytonk Badonkadonk," reminds me of the Mel McDaniel song "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans on," popular twenty or so years ago. Different tune, different lyrics, same idea.
